What to expect
During the Shoot:
I’ll show up to your location and take about 20 minutes to set up the studio.
I’ll slowly introduce myself to your pet and allow him/her to warm up to the flash of the lights, the sounds of the camera, and the feel of the background paper.
Once everyone is comfortable, we start clickin’ away! I’ll use treats, props, squeaks, toys, and anything else we need to get those killer shots!
You are welcome to hang out and watch! Patience is key so be ready to bring positive, fun energy.
Once we wrap, I pack up all the gear, give some fur-kisses, and get out of your hair!
after the Shoot:
Expect a tired pet from all the modeling he/she did!
Over the next several days, your images are meticulously edited - colors are corrected, leashes vanish, eye boogers disappear, etc.
Within two weeks of your session, you’ll receive a link to your private online gallery. Your high-resolution edited images can be found there and downloaded immediately!
Premium clients will receive an email containing a preview of their Coffee Table Album. We make any layout changes necessary and get your approval before the book goes to print. It is then shipped right to your door!
Enjoy!!!
How to prepare
Follow these tips to have the best shoot ever!
Prep your space: Be sure you have an 10’ x 10’ space clear of carpet, rugs, and furniture. This will ensure quick setup and more time behind the camera with your model.
Get your pup groomed: You’ll want your furbaby looking gorgeous from head to tail! Don’t forget a bath, hair cut (especially around the eyes for the fluffers), and nail trim.
Begin practicing a “stay”command: A little training goes a long way but please don’t worry if they don’t master it! Definitely NOT required!
Gather all your goodies: Collect any toys, props, or treats you want in your images. We’ll rotate them in during the shoot.
Take the edge off: If your dog is on the hyper side, please take him/her on a walk before our shoot. No need for full exhaustion though! Just get some of the extra energy out.
Strip down your doggy: Yep, you read correctly! I like to photograph pets without the distraction of collars or harnesses. Your pet gets to be free! However, this is your session and if you prefer collars on, totally fine by me!
Big inhales and exhales: Get ready to relax and have fun!

Absolutely! I bring along flashes that do all the lighting work for us.

When you book, you’ll have 5 options to choose from. I usually recommend either 1) going with your favorite color, 2) matching your decor (especially if you plan on displaying artwork) or, 3) coordinating with your pet’s eye color. That really makes them pop!

We’ll need a 10’ x 10’ indoor space free of carpet, rugs, and furniture. Hardwood, tile, or other solid flooring is needed for the studio to be set up properly.
Don’t have the space? Maybe borrow from a friend or family member? If the temps are nice, a garage would work!
Still don’t have the room? That’s ok!!! Contact us and join the waitlist for a session in our studio!

It’s TOTALLY ok! Your pet doesn’t have to be a master model. We can take all the time we need to get her comfortable. I’ll offer lot of treats, toys, and cuddles to make her happy. If needed, we can guide her with a leash and remove it in post-production.

Unfortunately, space restictions and lighting don’t allow for people to hop into the studio. If you’d like images with your pet, check out my on-location work at www.sarahmcgrawphotography.com.
